Pumpkin Scones

I love the flavors of fall - cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves - they all bring such a sense of warmth and coziness to the season.  I have been itching to make pumpkin scones for some time now and Saturday was the perfect day to do so; the air had a slight chill, but just cool enough to walk around outside wearing a light sweater and jeans.  While making this recipe, my mouth was just watering - the combination of the spices and pumpkin made me realize just how much I have been looking forward to fall.

(Ice cold butter is about to be blended with the spices of fall)
(The base of the dough that resembles cornmeal)
 (Vibrant orange organic pumpkin puree)
 (The scones cut into circles)
(The scones coated with the spiced glaze)

Glazing the scones twice, once with a basic glaze (powdered sugar and milk) and the second time with a spiced glaze (powdered sugar, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves) was just perfection.  This treat is not as hard as a traditional scone, however, once you sink your teeth into this baked good you will not be let down.  It is so soft and light, not overly sweet and absolutely delicious.
